Hi,

I dunno if its blasphemous to talk about debt on TED Wink but i have a friend who wants to invest some idle money in a debt instrument.Any pointers to which instruments/MF plans and good?

Also does any one know what is the prevailng rate for an RBI relief bond? And how good is it?

PS: Safety of capital is of paramount importance.

Also i have a doubt which may be silly. If a bond is held to maturity is our initial capital guaranteed or are there any circumstances where we get less that what we put up?

Take your chances and keep them in a box until a quieter time.

Investment is a very complex field to understand for most of us! Only certain trained individuals do understand what investment exactly is. Well, investment means to devote certain resources at a particular place that ensures future income for the investor.
