I couldn't control my laughter when Mr.Kalam was asked whether he would like Mr.N R Narayana Murthy to be the next president...he replied,"Fantastic,Fantastic,Fantastic."....yes he repeated the same words three times....the tone of that statement was hilarious....
I would like Mr.Murthy to be the next President definitely...Thumbs%20Up

The only good work done by current Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra is complusory playing of National Anthem in cinema halls befroe the start of movies.

Trust me I feel really proud & make sure all those who do not respect the anthem gets a good hearing from me.

Dont you guys think even corporates, govenrment offices, colleges  should start this practise ? I revives patriotism somewhere down the line...or else trust me not even 1% in India can sing our national anthem corectly with proper pronounciation .......

ABsolutely. I agree 100%. Though I think I am for a capitalist society but when it comes to the country all capitalism, socialism melts into just one thing - patriotism.

You know I always feel we Indians tend to crib a lot about our country....i always ask people to stop cribing about it & rather ask thmeselves wot they hv done for the country insplace of asking wot our govt does for us.....u know charity begins at home & practice what u preach....but we indians are only patriotic when it comes to Indian cricket match....

Sachin deserves a benefit of doubt. he might not known it but still it is OK that people are taking it up (thought for political and publicity reasons). Now let us wait for Raj Thackeray's statement.

Basically news channels and websites are no diferent when it comes to these politicians - both want some attention.

Why does it seem to me that as far as patriotism is concerned, only the well know and rich people are being targeted for ex  NR Murthy, Sachin.

Is it due to news value or political reasons or something else

All the people being targeted have done a lot more for making India famous in their respective fields than the people throwing stones at them. I know its a sentimental issue, but lets not get carried away, please.

I agree with tigershark. Its pure sensationalism.

Being rich or famous is not a excuse for such incidents aswell. Being famous brings lots of responsibility, which if not practiced becomes cause of media hangama.
Except private matters, Media has every right to report. Mr. Murti immediately apologies after realizing the facts. He knows making India famous is one thing and making a mistake to disrespect it is a lifetime blunder.

Now that we guys are discussing about patriotism & national anthem, I would like to discuss a topic very clsoe to my heart...

I tend to follow the Indian political environment pretty closely & found that the biggest problem with our system is the "hung parliament or assembly" This conceopt itself is wrong for any nation to develop.....All the problems we are facing is because of this f****** "post poll alliances"....trust me if you think deeply, it is nothing but money making business for politicians & fooling people....its a complete eyewash....Say for eg in maaharashtra Mr Pawar left Congress on Italaian issue, fought election on these grounds, fooled innocent people royally & finally went & sat in the Italian lap...with so called post poll alliances.

All that we need to do is pass a resolutuon in the parliament wherein we completely ban "post poll alliances"..let them do all kinds of pre poll allainces & based on that, voter selects the right alliance & the highest allaince forms the government....atleast this will save our country from horse trading, unwanted election expenses & less of corruption. The elected alliance will not hv to make any compromises & atleast rule (or earn ) for five years.....trust me guys I discussed this topic with few friends 4 yrs back in a mumbai local & entire compartment was engrossed in this topic & agreed with me.

Infact in the month of Jan 07, a well wisher thinking on same lines as me. had written a letter to Chief Justice of India in Times of India & I really felt that somewhere the movement has started......

( I am not a politician but a concerned & patriotic Indian )

We are all patrotic, However one lesson in markets must be rembembered....

Dont ever try to show patriotism in the markets, and make decision to buy stocks because you love the country. Because a stock does not know that you it.

I recently seen lots of US public lose their shirt in Currency trading, because they are Patriotic and are naturally Dollar Bulls.
