*** I have assumed the listing price of Network 18 to be in the range of Rs 400 – 420 which going by the present price of Tv18 looks very much possible.

The last quarter saw very few ideas. Generally I believe that there should not be more then 40 – 50 ideas to discuss, Buffet talks about 6 ideas and I have observed that this is all one needs to make a difference. Many people came up with an observation that we have stopped discussing newer stocks and I thought that it is better to start a  discussion on a new company only when there is a compelling case for one. In hindsight it is better to own  a single stock from the above list (Educomp) rather then dilute it with Nilkamal Plastics or Zicom. By the way we are removing Nilkamal from this section since the story seems difficult to unfurl.

Our http://www.theequitydesk.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=429 - The Equity Desk XI vs. Indian XI . have done exceedingly well mostly aided by the tailwind that blows fast and furious. The stocks in bold and blue are members of our cricket XI (along with the super sub). Trent is under the hammer and we need to observe that closely and see if it steps on the gas or else we may replace with some other company.

Regards,

Basant

Basantji,
I think PVR is also missing from the list...

In 2006 we saw many of the stories unfold while some others partially unfold and still some others pending unfold & that reflecting on the price..

Would this be a good time to identify couple of Equity Desk XI companies which are still attractive at the current prices...

Do you think Financial Tech, ENIL fall under this category?

-------------
Often we forget there's a company behind every stock, and there's only one reason why stocks go up. Companies go from doing poorly to doing well or small companies grow to large companies.

Yes, both ENiL and Fin tech would fall in that category but between these two I would back Fin Tech because its competitive advantage is more established and the visibility really robust.Broadly I think it needs just one 1000 point fall and most of these midcaps would start looking very attractive again. But timing that fall is something we all are incapable of doing.

ENIL looks still more attractive from shorter term. It is because they have raised the ad rates in Sept by 25% for 7 radiostations and 10% for 3 new stations. The kind of operating leverage which these companies have, means that any rate increase will mostly go to the bottom line creating huge change in operating profits. I look forward to adding more soon, before the results.

Thank you.

Good point. When we have enough writing material on that. FOr example just discussing a stock is not enough we try to see if there is enough material on that thread to make a case for detailed research.
