Basant sir this is right time to start proper PMS services.
I personally invested in one stock from top ten (single stock port folio) and that has almost doubled.I think no
guess work is required for the name.

Please start proper PMS where we will hand over our folios
to you and pls manage them for yearly fixed fee plus
profit sharing beyond hurdle rate.

PMS is too much of a headache, I want to keep myself free as far as possible in fact the "Ask Basant" works exactly like a PMS just that the decision is to be taken by the person who owns the stocks.

With proper PMS comes assets, with assets comes money.Say
a person who is managing 500 to 1000 cr long term retail assets gets proper treatment and sharing of information from the companies.I think you can beat of the best on DALAL street and achieve superior returns year after year once TED gets financial muscle.

Why should we only read PETER LYNCH,and not follow him.

In ASK BASANT we are given ideas & logic for the same and we can experiment & actually experience the result. you can question everything he says/does and we get to read his mind. in the process we learn & realize what works/why it works.
Even if you start PMS , pls continue BC services.

First of all I must apologise admin for debating this topic
in my investing strategy but as the debate has started I
feel it is my duty to put across my thoughts to everybody.

1)Many people like me do not have luxary of logging on to
TED every day and read all the posts.
2)Many people like me (most of the times) do not understand the finer points especially the one involves
analysing cash flows and balance sheets.
3)Many people like me are not wise enough to draw any
meaningful decision from Basantji's answer to queries and
end up just thanking him for spending his precious time
and they just keep quiet. The topic just ends there and
no investments happen.
4)Only the financially well versed and well informed
are reaping the benifits(Here I must agree that Iam also
a benefeciary just because of trust we have on basantji)
5)Couple of years back we started debating about paid PMS
and atleast advisery services started which everybody
knows is a huge hit.I feel it is right time now start
proper PMS and take our forum to next level.
6)Proper PMS service will benefit those people who have
investment capital but lack in time/wisdom/work in different fields than finance/women & housewivws/rural
and farming community.
7)It will give ted financial muscle to protect our scripts from unfriendly bear caartrels (it always happens, established people in merket have done this before)
8) We will have better control over the management of our
companies as we will be holding considerable equity and
this will adress governance related issues.
9)We will have acoutability and after few years we can
thump the bench and celebrate our riches.

I agree that starting a PMS involves a lot of headache but a close ended fund with a lock in period of 3/5/7
years can be thought off.

I completely agree with Satish..In Ask basant, we learn (and enjoy learning) and make money.
In PMS,we will ONLY make money..So, even if you start PMS, please continue Basants Corner as it is.

Thanks and Regards,

We are with TED right from begining(as a silent reader) and our portfolios gains have overtaken our aquired knowlwdge on TED

What I mean to say is once portfolio raises beyond a certain level (more than that of your wisdom) you feel
like handing it to a good manager and you do not mind
paying him fees and give him share in your profit. This
is a absolute win win sitaution.
As far as aquiring knowlwdge is concerned one can just go
through normal ted forum it is like GITA.

Being on ted for so many years has made us very demanding
and we want our forum also to make continuous progress
Q ON Q basis just like our companies are growing.

WOW!!!
very nice concept!!!
i would like to name this venture as CONCEPT VENTURE
(like concept car from any international auto MNC) in which we will be associate investors with our Great Guru.
Dreaming when it will start. I ready with huge zest and pleasure.

It's a very good idea for those whom newly entered in the market. It is just like while you learn, you earn. So, please continue Basants Corner as it is.

Basant sir with over 40% gains in TED portfolio (120% in
my personal portfolio) I feel it is prudent now to start
discussing about PMS services seriously.

Kindly educate us/tell differences about following options

1)One can start a close ended mutual fund with a certain lock in period.

2)One can start a PE/VC fund which can invest in combination of listed and unlisted equity.

3)One can start a pure PMS services.

4)Todays big fund houses were operating under which model
when they were small? I just went through their hisorical
returns and found out they made most of their money for their early investors.

5)I know that operating under present PMS models will be
boring and cumbersome but can we find out a innovative solution to this?

6)Basant corner question and answer works on similar
basis. But again a lot of individual factor sets in and
many time opportunity is lost.Whenever a stock goes up
30 to 40% people cannot hold on to that and end up loosing a potential multibagger.A dedicated PMS will
help these kind of people.(Unfortunately I fall under this category).

7)Some people cannot dedicate enough time to TED forum
or are not wise enough to understand indirect advise. This
will help them also.

8)Again there is no need to discontinue corner and ask
basant. PMS servises could be charged more and made available to people with little larger folios while
others would be made available to small folios.

9)Ideally I would love to see people start with corner/move to ask basant and graduate to PMS as their
folios gain during their stay at TED.

Other TED members pls contribute with your ideas regarding possible structure of PMS/FUND management.

having knowledge and using it to make money are different animals.  very few ppl have mastered both. most of us lack the later skill. its more to do with psychology and discipline which can be seen only in few successful ppl like basant-ji

basant-ji, pl reconsider your thoughts on this. is there anything that some of the seniors here can help you with the 'headaches'. i am hoping these are operational/procedural matters which can be sorted.

Not all stocks identified by great minds succeed. One mistake in PMS and many may cry foul on public boards.

Have fun!
