DDA website indicates that that the tender for http://www.dda.org.in/commonwealth.htm - Development of Commonwealth Games Village Residential Project is yet to be decided, in fact the original deadline has been extended to 31st Jan '07 & shortlisted candidates would be announced by 9th Feb '07.

Any idea about the list of interested contractors? Certainly the trigger will re-rate the winner.

EMAAR-MGF to build Commonwealth Games Village
New Delhi, June 28 - Emaar MGF, the joint venture between Dubai-based Emaar Properties and India's MGF group, has finally bagged the bid to build the Commonwealth Games Village in Delhi for the 2010 mega sports event.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Thursday declared that EMAAR-MGF has technically qualified for the project.

'The technical bid, which was very voluminous, was scrutinised in a number of meetings by a DDA high powered committee constituted for the purpose and finally EMAAR-MGF has been declared successful,' a DDA official said.

A total of 14 developers had requested for bidding qualification and shown interests in taking up the Rs.7-billion ($170 million) project, which is to come up near Akshardham temple in east Delhi.

Eleven developers qualified and of these only two had submitted their bids for constructing the village. 'The bid of DLF was found to be incomplete and was therefore disqualified'.

'The layout design of the village has already been prepared by Suresh Goel and Associates and the detailed drawings on acceptance of the financial bid will be made by EMAAR-MGF based on the concept and development controls approved by DDA,' an official statement said.

The timeline for completion of the project is Dec 31, 2009.

The Games Village will be spread across 118 acres and would provide accommodation to over 8,500 participants from across the globe.

The residential zone will comprise low and medium rise apartment blocks. It will have air-conditioned auditoriums, dining halls, health centres, media centres and banking facilities. The village complex will also have a training site and recreational facilities.

Thanks Muralimohan jee.

On that DDA website, there's a document which contains list of approved makes for major electrical equipment, ACs etc etc.

EMAAR-MGF has to buy from those.
