Nice initiative. The first 10 members get a free lecture by Kulmanji on how to avoid becoming a ML (Mungeri Lal or Meryll Lynch take it whatever suits you).
Kulmanji: If someone asks you "Yeh Mungeri kya hota hai?" then just remember the chloromint ad and you would know what to do.

Devesh,
I was very much excited to be in the get-together this sunday.
Unfortunately I have to rush to Delhi this sunday in an official assignment.
This was a opportunity to meet so many unknown faces, who are infact very close.
I am really sorry.
I wish the TED get-together a great success.

- Devesh Kayal is actually young & doesn't look like Warren Buffett
- Kulman neither has any stock picking acumen nor follows Buffett principles he posts on TED.
- Janak is an Indian version of Phil Fisher, the scuttlebutt.

This is to put on record: I was skeptical that due the recent fall, nobody wud be interested. Devesh assured me that TED members were different. Till the last day, i had my own doubts. Particularly since i had not met any of the TEddies and was a new meber of TED.
So it was all thanks to Devesh's idea.
Hoping that after his exams, he wud be active.

To add to the perspective, Janakbhai, I must add that considering the fact that you were a relatively new TEDdite, your gesture of taking upon yourself the entire event cost is not a matter that any of the participants can easily forget.
You deserve three cheers and kudos for that. It is not a question of money but of attitude of love and affection. As we all know at TED, it is not only a game of money making by any which means ( which a mungerilal attempts to make and invariably fails ) but of how you make it, the process. Not only the end result has to be positive but even the journey must be exhilarating. It is the experience of the journey which is equally important. And you enhanced the quality of our experience yesterday by your gesture.

Believe it or not, its true
Snehal jee's explanation of Cash equivalents made a lot of sense and i would request him to explain it to TEDdies. He explained Kotak in a comprehensive manner. He is bullish on RelCap, Yes and CBoP.
Janak jee said "The dynamics of the business is changing so fast that we investors realise it after the event has happened. "
Chirag bhai said "Thanks to TED, he is emotionally detached from the market fall"
Rel Cap guys are quite aggressive (in his words "fire in the belly"), said Mark. He had a positive thing to say on Marico too.
This is just a Summary. The meeting went from 1 pm to 7.30 pm.

The meeting was indeed very interesting. Kulmanji gave us a CD having some really good material.
It was nice to hear the 'no selling' perspective of Pranpani (Mr. Patil) He shared with us how he holds Axis from Rs. 40/-. 'Time in the market' is what people like me should be worrying about.
Kulmanji had some nice stories to share as well. Contrary to public opinion, Kulmanji is quite young, I didn't find any grey hair on his scalp - its a different story that we had a candle light dinner.
We plan to meet often and also play bridge, since we are a group of 4 now!

ha ha ha !!! Good one!
The secret is Rs. 7/- wallah....

Another secret is that before the market correction, I could afford to use branded stuff like L'oriel, Garnier.

Thank You Janakbhai in advance. It would be really interesting to make to that meet.
Incidentally, did you observe that each of the three Gujjus in Mumbai meet had a shirt with different shade of blue. Contrast that with none of the other four esteemed members having that shade ?
Does this throw some insight on how we Gujjus think and present ourserlves ?
Any answer from any Teddite ?

Deveshji, any progress on copying the investment CD bestowed to the co members by Kulmanji ?
Take your own time and once it is ready, we can coordinate the logistic of exchange.
Hope your exam preparations are in full swing.

Hey I missed this one.
Johnybravo, a warning: the only bridge I know now so far is Howrah Bridge. So be careful if you wish to partner with me.
But seriously speaking, it's a nice idea to play bridge and the winning team pays for dinner!

kulmanji, why r u so paranoid about paying for the dinner? Seems like you got too bruised from your GOA trip last year! Don't worry, this time around your are in the company of sajjans. As for dinners, its already decided that its going to borne by someone whose company wins the most construction orders!

Looks like Mumbai-Pune meet turned out to be successful as most of the TEDdies were cautious on markets. I wish I had taken a cue from Janak jee as he was sitting on 60% Cash. I hope he found some bargain finally !

No Devesh It was still Kolkata’s ….
In Kolkata meeting we had discussed a bearish alternative for the market, even as it was hitting its all time highs, which actually came into play. Kolkata Teddies, please support me if you remember that Support which was highlighted, and did any one actually implement it???????

Yes, that is the reality. Being intellectually aware is one thing, implementing the same is another. Talking about myself, I had enhanced my cash holdings to 12/14 % from the normal 2/3 % . But by hindsight, that was inadequate action and one has to pay for that .
Kudos to Janakbhai that he was not only 60 % cash then but even further enhanced it subsequently. This is the benefit of being a loyal WB fan not only in thoughts but also in implementation.
As I had mentioned to Janakbhai in another message, many, including me admire WB but follow him as per one's other beliefs and convenience . Accordingly, we end up paying the price of not having as sterling record of success that he has or his Indian follower Janakbhai has.

Yes, I can understand the bearish mood in Kolkata ahead of in Mumbai.
Having spent at least 20 years in each of the two cities, one thing I have noticed is : Kolkata is normally bearish while Mumbai is normally bullish. In times of bull phase, big money is made in Mumbai and in bearish phases, Kolkata laughs to the bank all the way.

Dear Snehal,
In spite of keeping 60% cash my portfolio has declined by 15% from the peak portfolio valuations as other shares i m still holding declined sharply tho there was no change in fundas. I am still in profits.
Actually i hv sold due to many factors. I wud suggest everybody to read cocktail theory of Peter Lynch. Certain decisions were based on that.
I am not a pure follower of Warren. Everybody's perspective and experiences are different. There is only one Warren Buffett.
I usually follow more of Phil Fisher, P Lynch ..
But may be will fully follow Warren in future. He is a great guy.
Best wishes to all.

This gives some solace to someone who is down 33%. Look we find satisfaction in hearing how much others have lost. The stock market is an incredible thing.

Well Smartcat, the realiy is that i know few who have really lost everything. They used to play F & O. Lost their capital, hv put their car and second home for sale. At distress rates. I was offered one flat yesterday. One person sold his new merc at 30% less.
They have just managed to scrap thru. I know those people indirectly and few directly.
During Ketan Parekh boom bust also many went bankrupt. Stock market is very very risky place to learn how to make profits.
TEd members wud not realise as here most r investors. But there is a world out there who believe only in F & O.
best wishes
