Devesh
While I have no comments on this Enam list, please try to get personal portfolio investments of Wipro Chairman Azim Premji. I have heard that he holds some very good stocks apart from Wipro of course.

I think that these stocks are held by Vallab Bhanshalli, his HUF, Nemish Shah etc all together! ALso the source should be BSEIndia.com.
Unfortunately I wasn't too excited to see this portfolio. Maybe expectations were quite high but the stock selection is not something that we can associate Vallab Bhanshalli's thought process with!
Anyway ENAM does not need my approval to buy stock!!!

Is this like RJ's portfolio, where the percentage means ENAM holds that particular percentage of the company? That is - Does ENAM own 1% of Pantaloon or does Pantaloon constitute 1% of ENAM's equity portfolio?
|
Posted By: basant
Date Posted: 17/Jul/2007 at 12:28pm
No that 1% is the proportion of Pantaloon's equity capital in ENAM's portfolio - not like the RHJ portfolio whgere the percentages indicate RJ's exposure to a particular stock in terms of his overall exposure.

aah ok.
My comments about ENAM's portfolio -
- ENAM is extremely bullish about auto ancilliary companies - Hitech Gears, IP rings, Motherson SUmi, MRF, Munjal Showa, Rane Engine, Rane Holdings, Rico Auto.
- Gujarat Fluoro makes refrigerent chemicals. But unlike most chemical companies, this company has a NPM of almost 40%! It has a 30% CAGR net profit growth rate. And sone pe suhaaga is that it owns 51% of INOX Leisure. I had considered investment in this company some time back but there is hardly any info on this company anywhere. Their website has always been 'under construction'.
- Champagne Indage is a the largest wine company in India. Wine consumption is growing at 30% CAGR unlike beer or hard liquor. I had considered investment in this one, but stock price ran up. And then I lost interest in FMCGish space.

These auto ancilliary companies like clayton, fasteners, munjal shova etc are good investment bets but not the ones that can create big multibaggers also ENAM must not have calculated their opportunity cost!!!

I guess ENAM got those shares for free when they were the BRLM for their IPOs!
ENAM owns about 10% of ING Vysya Life Insurance Co.

The killing in these two stocks had was more a result of their unfair advantage that they gained because of being in an influential position then anything else. They got in Educomp during the pre IPO placement at Rs 120.

i follow taneja aerospace. According to me the management is a bit concern. Do read the annual report of last year before deciding anything. Company hasnt yet filed Q4FY07 numbers and annual report on BSE though mandatorily required.
Secondly, the space in which they operate is unique but the entry barriers are not great. The company ahs diverse operations relating to aviation. It acts as agent for Cessna for chartered aircrafts for which it receives good commission. It also has hanger at its factory where it takes for which it receives hanger charges. Both these contribute heavily to revenues and margin is huge as practically no cost is required. But there is very low entry barrier to do such things and hanger will require just a few acre land, no significant expertise.
Other businesses are not really profit making and that might be the real reason why they are not giving segmental reporting as required by Accounting Standard-17 of ICAI
So whatever the real profit comes is not because of any expertise, is what it seems.
Reading Annual report of it is must. I can comment anything after FY07 Annual report

I have no clue, but I guess it would be miniscule.
MRF Tyres website says Funskool is a result of a JV between MRF and Hasbro (largest toymaker in the world). It's probably just a manufacturing/production JV.

Inside information is that when I approached a leading bank for term loan for putting up bi-cycle unit, they declined saying that I look like a sub-prime candidate.
