Now that the  way for Modi to be the next PM of India is very clear as he has got an excellent mandate to such an extent that BJP on its own enjoy a Majority of 272+ and does not have to fall in to the trap of bullying tactics of its pre poll or post poll allies , the time has now come for us to be aware of the challenges that confront Modi as the new PM and this thread has been started exclusively for that .
While many may talk of the challenges on the Economic front - i.e inflation , price rise , boosting the economy , creating more jobs etc etc I feel all those will be taken care in due course and what is more important first for Modi is to develop a very healthy relationships between the Centre and states and also between the various states .
If Modi has to implement his vision he needs the co-operation of all the states ( be it  BJP ruled states or non BJP ruled states ) . Without the co-operation of the states nothing much will move forward . Centre State relationship is very important and also very delicate as most states look at Centre with suspicion and as bullies . The emergence of various regional parties in various states is a proof of this disgust with the National Parties . When Modi wave was sweeping the entire Country states like TN ,WB and Orissa were able to stop it and emerge victorious because they had strong regional leaders .
Centre State relationships and inter state relationships were never part of any election debate and I feel that holds the key to the success of what Modi intends to do . I had already highlighted this before in the other thread but was surprised that in none of the electoral debates this figured much .
So I feel Modi's success is dependent upon how best he is able to sell his vision to the Various states and receive their co-operation . Right now Regional Identity Politics is very strong and a very powerful tool to whip up passions and earn electoral dividends . Jaya ,Mamata have played that Card very well and will continue to play . Though Numerically Modi will not need their support in Lok Sabha but in Rajya Sabha he will need their support and they will continue to bully the Center to extract as much as possible to prove to their respective state people how strong they are .

One has to wait and watch how Modi handles this .
Others can also share their views  here .

Valueman,

You have hit the nail on the head. Congress deliberately tried and sidelined all their strong state leaders and hence lost their organization over a period of time. This is a time to give more power to states in a gradual manner. center should over a period of time limit itself to defense, foreign affairs and few other key matters.

Other big task for Mr. Modi to constantly drive the message home that he is not anti-minority, an image which his detractors have been able to portray successfully over last one decade.

The following is a piece of writeup I found on FB by a lady monk Nidhi Chaitanya from Chinmaya Mission ,Mumbai and I felt it worth sharing here . Every Indian must read this and get inspired to lift their own standards in whatever field they are in and only by that way we can make the task of Sri Narender Modi to take the country to greater heights be possible .

When the Prime Minister of a country declares himself Majdooor No.1, then the people of that country MUST slog it out in whatever work they are doing. This man travelled over 3,00,000 kms, held 5827 public meetings in 25 states, besides 1350 3-D rallies and 4000 Chai pe Charcha since September 15, reaching out to around 10 crore people directly and many more through internet, TV and other virtual and mass media. The Prime Minister's day begins at 5am with Yoga, Pranayam & Exercise, and is obviously packed with work - sometimes going well past midnight. He has NEVER taken a vacation or a holiday in all his years as the Gujarat Chief Minister. This success is a result of years of austerity, magnificent hard work and unimaginable daily sacrifices. We are all celebrating Narendra Modi's success. But his real success would be when each and every Indian gets committed to his own work with this kind of unprecedented fervor. Roll up your sleeves and work hard. Let's join Majdoor No.1 and make India World's No.1! The fragrance of our sweat will yield gardens of prosperity and peace in our beloved Motherland. Democracy is not Narendra Modi. Democracy is of the people, by the people, for the people. Without the people, even NaMo can't. Our responsibility is not over because we voted him to power. Our responsibility has begun now. We have complained for decades that we don't have an able leader. Today we have an ideal leader. Let us now be ideal players. For next 5 years, if NaMo, you and i keep the hardwork going, India will be unstoppable. Let's do it again people. Work extra hours in office, show extra-ordinary results, do more than your seniors expect, perform better than your job demands, deliver before the deadline, expect no follow-ups, go out of your way for your duties, be nobler than the law needs, love more than the world asks, help more than you are being helped, serve better than you can even imagine service to be, learn more than you require to learn, exercise daily, be incredibly disciplined. In short, be like Narendra Modi! Then, we will truly MODIfy India. Get ready India, you now have a leader whose spirit must NOT allow you to rest any more. It is not just Narendra Modi, but it is all of us who have come to power yesterday. We now have 5 years. Wake Up, Get Up and Show it to the World! Vande Mataram!
