On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti markets are closed. Two Laal freinds met over glass of beer & brunch. Here's the slice of their conversation.....

 

MungeriLal: "Kyaa haal hain? How are you?"

 

SambhadhLal: "Well....I'm just okay. But I'm Short Futures since quite sometime."

 

MungeriLal: "Yeah. Last time you were talking of imminent US recession based on inverted yield curve, credit market crunch and many other factors. But Dow hit all-time high last night!"

 

SambhadhLal: "You see Mungeri, markets behave irrationally for some time."

 

MungeriLal: "Hmm....so you say that irrational behaviour explains the current situation then."

 

SambhadhLal: "Now I'm working on a system...a formula. Have you got a calculator?

 

MungeriLal: "Naah....but wait... I have calculator function in my mobile phone. But why?"

 

SambhadhLal: "Great!....Just carry out these calculations.....here we go....(14100+62000++28000+3800+2000)/1750......how much is the answer?"

 

MungeriLal: "62.8...but what are all those numbers?"

 

SambhadhLal: "The numerator has the total of major indices i.e. Dow+Bovespa+HangSeng+S'pore+Kospi and the denominator is S&P500........okay now multiply the result with Nikkie top of 40,000. What do we get?"

 

MungeriLal: "Hmmm.....2.512 Million! But what's all this??"

 

SambhadhLal: "Just wait....now divide it by (80+750) which is total of Crude and Gold..."

 

MungeriLal: "We get approx 3,026"

 

SambhadhLal: "Now multiply by 1.42 which is Eur-USD rate. What do we have now?"

 

MungeriLal: "4,296"

 

SambhadhLal: "Now....do 1.98 (GBP-USD) times 3,026."

 

MungeriLal: "5,990"

 

SambhadhLal: "There you go my friend......Nifty will be in the trading range of 4,296 - 5,990 at least till Diwali of CY2008"

 

MungeriLal: "Hmmmm....now I realise how markets behave irrationally!"

 

SambhadhLal: (raising glass of beer)  "Cheers !!"
