Hi 'Futurebull',
Many thanks for the reply. I am presently of thought,that out of all that is happening, media and entertainment industry is going to come out as one of the winners and hence have been gradually creating a portfolio of media stocks. I have been watching prime focus for 3-4 months but unfortunately, did not pick it up when it was touching new lows in march. All the same, relative to prices it has seen before, i feel, it is still at a very low price and am interested in picking up some, of coarse, there might be a downside once again if the overall market falls.. but thats a chance i guess one has got to take.
 
Are you familiar with the past reputation of the management and whether this is a professional company, or is just run on the whims and fancies of the management etc. The scrip did touch rs.1600 one time.. makes me wonder ?!!!

How Viceroy Hotel can be multibagger in 2012-13?

 

Equity is 42.41 Crore Rs. So total number of Shares are 4.24 Crore.

 

2.9 Crore Shares (Approx 70% of Total Equity) are issued against 270 Crore Rs. So at the price is 93 Rs./Share. They are issued to Promoter, ICGQ, RJ, HSBC and Sonata Investments (Anil Ambani)

 

These 5 guys have subscribed at the price of 90 from 2005 to 2007 so they must have some high target price

Total 1100 Rooms at the EV of 560 Cr. So each room is available at less than 50Lakh Rs.

Hi Nilesh,
     Great job in painstakingly putting together this report on Viceroy Hotels. Looks interesting from what you have shown here...but I am a bit confused by the numbers I am seeing in money.rediff.com. In Rediff the revenue in March 08 is shown as 73.97 crores on an equity of 42.41 cr and reserves of 194.41 crores. So how did you get the revenue figure of 408 crores? Is this a projection for future or as-is? If as Rediff says, the revenue is only 73.97 crores and net profit is just 6.26 crores, the scrip doesn't look that encouraging.

I will tell you that mgmt. looks professional as they are making right moves and their work has been getting rewards every now and then in various award functions.. recently they have appointed a industry veteran as their marketing head in US so it looks Ok from that front..i did take some exposure at Rs90 after extensive research and following it for a month..after that it started making 20% moves everyday and then 10%UC..best to pick below 90..it is strong stock as per my research ..every dip is being cornered by someone..so watch out for next bull run in next 2 yrs..

The reason why i asked was that Prime Focus has revenues of only 85 crore. (some of it is Indian revenues)
 
Perhaps this shows that the animation outsourcing spends is very low in India at this point though Indian companies have been talking about it for 3-5 years now.

Thanks for the hard work you put in. Value per room is the way to go.
I'd argue that looking at  {EV/Rental expected} would also be a good measure.
 
On the current valuation front...this valuation is probabily par for the course. Let's take Taj GVK which has presence in similar cities.
 
current EV: 420 cr
current room: 700  => EV/room = 60 lakhs
rooms planned for 2010: 1400 => EV/room = 30 lakhs
 
All these stocks are hit by the overhang of the economy...and news paper reports that these folks are experiencing only 30% occupancy and will be slashing rates anytime.
 
 
BTW...the Viceroy hotel rates is really surprising. Considering that Taj Krishna...a much higer rated hotel and with a better location quotes rates of Rs 9000/room on their websites and you can always haggle a discount.

The calculations are very well explained, but occupancy and ARR have gone down sharply, and it's highly unlikely they will go up in the near future or so.
