but i have my own apprehensions even on the web 18 side...once the reasoning of raghav bahl on aggresive web foray was that media companies in the west lost oppurtunity using the web but tv18 group doesn't want to lose that while the web in india is in its nascent stages!!!!!theree's no daag in mr bahl's thinking but look at the way tv 18's portals operate

 

moneycontrol.com has lots of traffic drive to it via its most famous business channel and so are other sites like tech2.com and hshop18.com

 

and indiwo.com and commoditiescontrol.com and earnings website hardly have any visitors even to support the content writers!!!

 

cricketnext.com is a small ant in front of cricnfo.com...there's no variety in cnn-ibn and cricketnext.com..both have same content..so one who watches cnn-ibn wouldn't like cricketnext.com

 

only silver linig is yatra.com(which i personally used many a times)

 

         and then the promotional side of these portals even if the money stays within the group, there is an opportunity cost attached to within group cross-media promotions..and what happens to that cost of advertisments once web 18 is listed as a seperate entity

 

the way forward would be not simply adding portals with hardly any vistors but higher visitors for lesser no of sites which would help in concentrating on the sites in a better way
