The subsidiary listings should create market cap . Someone was telling me that look at NW18 what hapened to the stock but my argument is that Nw18 did not perform after TV 18 shareholders amde a quick 3 bagger in 6 months so if PRIL is to list its subsidiaries then we can have a round of rerating also the operating margin expansion (though I would like to see one more quarter) should make the stock cheap sooner then we realise.

Pantaloon latest monthly sales are out. Same store sales growth is buoyed by Diwali so no excitement there, overall for the first 5 months of this year Pantaloon has grown topline at 79%. I think they should end Fy 08 with closer to Rs 8000 crores in topline.

Bottomline is what we need to watch out for in the December quarter.

Anyone from Bangalore could do us a favour with a feedback whenever he visits Marathali where Pantaloon has opened its first store in JV with the Staples of US. Staples is  a US$ 20bn company so this is another scalable model.

Few points from my side.

Marathalli is becoming a undeclared IT hub with Cisco, Honeywell, Qwest and a host of other big SEZ's coming up, it is definitely going to boom.

They have put up an entire stretch near Brook field road with Staples ads, which I saw on sunday during my drive that side. So, atleast on the marketing front, they are spot-on with their ads & a page full of ads in 'Times of India', largest selling english daily in Bangalore.

Also, Pantaloon's brand factory & e-zone which was seeing very few footfalls couple of months back is now buzzing with customers. (evident from the crowd). Also, biggest surprise is very near to e-zone @ kormangla there is a store by name "Girias", a local favourite which has similar products with competitive price BUT CROWD seen only at e-Zone. That was the most surprising part of my observation !!

I shall definitely check out on the staples stores when I find time.

Usually in their monthly reports, they include the stores that are set to open in future - say 2-3 months.

This is missing in this month's report.. Is PRIL going slow on its plans due to any reasons ?
Often we forget there's a company behind every stock, and there's only one reason why stocks go up. Companies go from doing poorly to doing well or small companies grow to large companies.
