With the economy in bad shape and many companies under distress (jet, spicejet, infra and power companies)...does it make sense for the Sensex to be hitting a high? Is the run up driven by foreign money or the high is an indicators of things turning around in the economy in the next 3-6 months?

IMO, index is going up because of foreign buying. Now one should ask why are they buying. Either they think regime change will do world of good instantly or self healing of the economy has already started.
