I do not know whether we need XI stocks in our portfolio but I would suggest the following as safe bets for the next 5 years( from 2008-2012)  :Note these are not 10 baggers etc but will give good decent returns and the dividends will act as extra incentives .

1) GAIL (  buy after ex bonus )
2) GSPL ( good at price less than Rs.55)
3) IGL ( good at price less than Rs.115 )
4) NESTLE ( not a very liquid stock but keep accumulating at every dip below Rs.1750 )
5) POWER GRID ( at less than Rs.80 more safe )

Note : I am invested in the above stocks and i intend to buy them at every dip .
