Anything particular you noticedin  www.homeshop18.com  smartcat I though health and beauty were one such section. Their 25% minority shareholder SAIF partners had incubated Acorn in china which is listed at NASDAQ. Maybe they have a common sourcing base.

Yeah, stuff like Nike fitness kit, walker with torch for old people etc - mostly unique stuff.

Perhaps the competitor to watch out for is not Futurebazaar or fabmall.com but something like http://www.telebrandsindia.com.
You remember Telebrands right? Firangis speaking in strange Hindi, trying to sell lots of what looks like cool products.

But they have been failures in india maybe because they did not get the focus right. That dubbing looked very dumb!

If Alexa ranking is any indication telebrands is way behind anyone!!!

I am ashamed to admit that when Telebrands ads used to come on TV, I used to watch the whole thing. Of course, it was embarassing - so if somebody else walked into the room, I would quickly switch the channel.

I think Telebrands and HSN business model is mostly 'SELL VIA TELEVISION' through their toll-free numbers. Website wouldn't be such a big priority for Telebrands but it would just be one of the ways in which the company displays the products and accepts payments.

I think buying things after watching it on TV has to be integrated with a web offering. All home shopping companies in the US went about the web model. Internet penetration should enhance sales but for these models we are still 24 months behind critical mass.

Futurebazaar does Rs 10 lacs daily and is valued at Rs 700 - Rs 900 crores (media reports). By 2011 they intend to do about Rs 1600 crores so that should set some yardstick.

Homeshop 18 doesn't have enought collection, when I check for books I can see just one book - latest harry potter book.  I feel NW18 has one popular website moneycontrol.com (which they use as launching platform for  other products) on which we can bet on.
Thanks & Regards,
Harry

Right, I checked one up on wall street and could not find it. Think we could give them some time for scaling up.

Smartcat ji !
R u sure you were watching the telebrand ads  ? Wink ... I know some of these ads can be very funny(non-intentional comedy)...
Like..This egg slicer's price is just Rs2999... But wait.. Call now.. we will double the offer...Not just that call immediately we will also give you a dozen eggs to go with that.. Hurry.. offers last till the chicken are made into biryani...

Often we forget there's a company behind every stock, and there's only one reason why stocks go up. Companies go from doing poorly to doing well or small companies grow to large companies.
