I was thinking of one, after 5 years. My primal reason for using one good one who is good and certified in this FP stuff, was to maintain a steady cash flow for many years...30-40 years maybe with a certain level of certainty.

Then I could focus more on my own investments and take more than average risk.
The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect.A temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd nor against it

Basantji - in Financial Planning, there is no thumb-rule of making an asset allocation.

Rather, decision is taken based on the identified need of a person and the right asset class which would help to achieve that need.

The concept goes: Need --> Target --> Asset Class --> Investments --> Control ---> Achieve == Financial Planning

Hi all there,

Iam Chartered accountant.Iaws working last with Trinethra,Hyd,into treasury management.
I have 4yrs of work exp.
Iam not able to find that growth into the jobs which I have done till date in Corporate Finance.I just wonder if I go for some further course in CFP,(Financial planning),CTM(treasury management),or diploma with IIBF.
I cannot go for a regular course as Iam settled in Hyderabad ,so these courses if I do I need to do correspondence ones.
Can anybody suggest me what should I go for.

Hello, CFP is a good cous but the work profile of a CFP and a CA is diagnally opposite so the best thing to do if you want to leverage your CA experience is to look at an MBA or an International CFA (presently that is coming under controversy).

Can we do CFA or CFP course (not sure which one will be better?) being BE background? I am also BE in Comp Sc. and doing job in IT industry, willing to go for above certification not for the purpose of again doing job in financial industry rather than just for the sake of learning and enhancing my thought process.

In India, from which Institute or corr. course we can do this? Any link or Info will be really helpful for me.
Thanks & Regards,
Harry

it' good to see that atleast some indian forum is talking abt cfp. I have just completed BE and may join a IT major any day. however, i want to shift to finance as a career. i dont want to do mba without any work exp, as i have no background(dont know e of economics...).so mba will come after 1 yr exp in finance.

rite now i am looking for a short term course(1 yr-1.5yr.. better if part time or self study) that helps me learn and also makes my resume visible to the HR ppl in finance firms.

i had these courses in mind: ncfm, cfp, cfa( international). would somebody please guide me?

i heard that cfp' are self-employed or stuff like that. i feel that as of now, i am not cofident enough to be self employed. my idea of a first finance job is some bank that provides investment solutions to hni' or corporates...

CFP is probably 2 years and yes, it is kind of a consultancy business that you need to build upon. What is a problem though is the lack of a consumer mindset to pay for financial advice - at least in India.
