Wonder whether the above comment was an attempt:

3. to provoke

If it's the first, may I suggest you hone up your skills by first sharpening your mind; I recommend 'emery paper' ... it pretty much sharpens almost all inanimate (read DEAD or LIFELESS) objects...

If it's the second or third, well, congrats! you succeeded...

Let me start by stating that I am no fan of RKJ...
Agreed, he's one of the most successful guys around & has by and large made his fortune at an unparalleled rate...
but he's human nevertheless & can therefore afford some blemishes in his checkered career.

I will not debate on why RKJ bought Geometric when he did, as honestly I have no clue... but, I am sure he had good reasons... And if he made a mistake back then, what stops him from committing another one (by selling Geometric) now?

Alternatively, it could well be concocted that offloading a small quantity of Geometric leads to a domino effect (as every second guy in the stock market swears by RKJ's omniscience) thereby allowing RKJ to add more stock at an opportune time & price...
Of course, RKJ has a team of financial mavericks at his disposal and by the dint of his stature & clout he could be privy to some price-sensitive news that is not in the public domain as yet, but till such time as the skeletons tumble out of the cupboard, a lesser mortal such as me will continue to ride his belief in Geometric

Geometric may not have performed for RKJ, but at the current rate & future outlook, I think it is a steal...

hmm....what makes you see value in it. can you elaborate further ?[/QUOTE]

Geometric is a Godrej Group company that holds proficiency in the field of engineering solutions, services & technologies primarily focusing on adding value through rationalization in Product Life Cycle Management in segments such as Farm Equipment, Industrial Engineering, Marine Engineering, Construction Equipment and Automotive.
Geometric has an enviable client list & finds favour with most of the leading companies across the globe as almost all biggies have moved towards outsourcing engineering services to pare down costs as well as focus on their core competency.
Geometric's 9 month results (Dec. 2009) portray a robust growth in opm (which now stands at 17.5%) & net profit (up an impressive 39%)...
Apart from this, what pleases me is the fact that they have hedged themselves against the rupee appreciation for the next six months, which I believe is crucial at the current juncture.
The EPS for FY 10 should be around 8/- & I expect it to grow at a healthy 30% for the next couple of years...
Also, it would be pertinent to mention that Geometric has been relatively left unscathed in the recent global turmoil and is not expecting any defaults on collectibles. Besides, it's order book has slowly but surely started swelling...
I could add more info but at 2:36 AM, my mind is at best fractionally ahead of CRAZY's during his peak activity...
So, I allow myself to succumb to sleep...

I think he might have sold his stake in geometric  (a small stake of his total holding) as he had bought it at low price (sub 20)  and might had to buy SREI infra which was at same price,  ??? I miight be wrong, but any more selling from him would give doubt.

Not just the stock price, even the profits have gone nowhere over the past several years.

Let me illustrate my point...
I remember as a schooling kid, I was overawed by Wimco (then a FERA co.), Shree Mahalakshmi Match Works (then quoting at around Rs. 10,000/- for a Rs. 100/- face value share), Cipla, Zandu etc. on account of their astronomical market price. While a majority of such companies eventually had to bite the dust, some continue to perform and enamour investors...
On the other hand, I also recollect ACC tumbling down to Rs. 140/- (Rs. 100/- F.V. Share) & staying there for a long long time till Darbari Seth came along & radically changed the game plan... It thereafter climbed beyond Rs. 10,000/- during Harshad Mehta's reign...

The point I am trying to make is this:
Companies that have intrinsic value & good management are able to tide over the troubled times & come back to rule with a vengeance...
While I am not a proponent of 'timing the market', it obviously makes sense to move out of even blue chips hampered by external or internal negatives, only to come back when better times beckon...
It is a fact that Geometric has not performed to the level one expected, but I think its about time it starts shining...

What VikasG means is that RKJ probably sold Geometric at around the same rate that he shelled out to purchase SREI, i.e., anywhere between Rs. 62- 67...
