has anybody looked at/invested in Frankin FMCG? . I am impressed with the stocks in the portfolio too. I know investing in a sector fund is not good. But thinking of doing some lump sum investment in this. (apart from switching from my old investment in Franklin India flex cap.. i am bored of seeing the same old reliance, sbi, infosys, l&t,bhel,bharti etc in all mutual fund holdings)

Have u looked at P/E of the fund? Do you think high PE of 35 still justifies investment in the fund?

If there is one sector fund that is worth investing in at all times, then it has to be a FMCG fund. There is very little risk of a loss over a long period of time. However, do note that FMCG sector funds might see long durations (like 2 or 3 years) of no or very little rise in NAV.

You can get the avg P/E value of a MF when you click on the PORTFOLIO tab for the particular MF in valueresearchonline.

I have always wanna own FMCG fund but i got bundled down due to very high PE.

Do you guys think its ok to invest i FMCG fund with 35 PE ad high P/B too?

If it helps, the P/E of BSE FMCG index is around 32.

FMCG companies own brands and will always have very high P/B values.
