Is the swap ratio going to be decided tomorrow?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Board of private sector lender HDFC Bank on Saturday began its meeting to discuss the merger possibility with Centurion Bank of Punjab.

The Board is expected to appoint auditors and accountants at today's meeting to assist it in the transaction.

HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, while entering the bank's premises in central Mumbai to attend the meeting, told mediapersons that if the bank's Board approved the merger proposal, then another meet would be called on Monday at 0730 hrs.

The share swap ratio would be decided at that meeting, Parekh said.

Well, I am quite disappointed with early fall of shikari. Anyway let's see what next....
Takeover of CBOP by HDFC Bank indicates that their strategy of 30% YoY was wrong/out-dated/mis-planned. In Banking, bigger is beautiful. I have learned couple of months ago, they seems to be now..... Cry
Now one can forget both of these banks for a while. Needless to say that banking segment is red-hot with lots of more possibilities.....
Suggested Names: CBoHDFC, CHBoP, HDFC Bank of P, Punjabi CBoHDFC, C HDFC Bank...Smile

Hi Basant sir,
What is your view on this merger for cbop share holders. It looks like share price is already tracking the hdfc bank share price. Do you think it is good idea to sell cbop share. It looks like hdfc bank share price might do down to the extent of dilution in EPS.
While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior.

Dillution to some extent would be compensated by the increase in No of shares of the combined entity. Dillution of EPS would majorly come in from the write offs that they will do over the next couple of quarters. Is this right Basantji?

yes, the next coupe of quarters should be painful for short term investors and an opportunity for the longer term ones.

Looking forward to add HDFC Bank. I am glad the ratio 29 : 1 announced  as per CNBC TV 18 is favorable to HDFC Bank considering that ratios being discussed were closer to 20  : 1

Seems like CBOP management was more interested in the merger with HDFC Bank .
