Basant jee

Are there any concerns about May'07 sales and/or growth figures?

No. Nothing really. Same store sales were dismal but we should take a quarterly view on that. Should not be deciding ona  company on a 30 day report card.

Pantaloon is more of a consumer story now rather thena  pure retailing one.

The short term concern i see with pantaloon is that of monthly sales figure and 9-12 months delay in completion of malls (Read today's ET)..But the subsidiaries like Future Capital,E-tailing,Media set off the concerns.

Same-store growth seems respectable. Is it on the high or average side, what do you say Basant sir?

Same store growth is much better than previous months'. I believe Biyani himself quoting somewhere , In the time when retail market is not matured, same store growth would be healthy if they are at 20%.
Often we forget there's a company behind every stock, and there's only one reason why stocks go up. Companies go from doing poorly to doing well or small companies grow to large companies.

While this month's numbers look compelling I would not pay too much attention because the company did a discount sale in August 97  whereas last year August did not see any discount sale.
