Oh and my worry about congress: Reservation and the sh*t they pulled with telecom licenses. That was some cheap thing to do and thats not even an issue now.

You can have arguments why cong is better but integrity of Gandhi Family? WackoWackoWackoWacko

Have you heard of emergency? Do you know Jayprakash Narayan? And his reference of "Gangotri of Corruption"? Find it out. Do you hear word Dynasty? How do you already  know Rahul is better for country than all Congress members? And how do you assume Rahul's son/daughter(if) will be person with integrity?

Does Gandhi family hold majority shares in cong. Ltd?

My assumption is we are most likely to get another election soon.

Left/BSP won't support any other party.

Dynasty has become quite a common word. The exception is the politician whose son or daughter does not follow in the parent's footsteps. So we should stop getting all frothy over the word dynasty.

That is the difference betn BJP and others. If you think that is the best way to get quality why don't we have atleast cricket team whose parents were test players or captains? BCOZ there you need real talent and hard work only. Somebody's father is not goint to help him to face McGrath.

Congress has stopped getting all frothy for the word Dynasty and the word meritocary.

For better or worse, the nation was saved the prospect of another Rahul becoming a neta. Instead of getting frothy about the mouth, he was getting powdered about the nose! Even Kirit Somaiya had a tough time getting a ticket because the daughter of a deceased politician was tipped to get the ticket. So the dynasty cancer has spread.

Talking anout meritocracy is another subject altogether.

In democracy only leaders with wide public appeal succeed. Whether one likes it or not, the Gandhi family has wide appeal for the masses which is hard to match by the other competitors. That is the reason for their hold on congress. If Sonia Gandhi wanted she could have been the prime minister last time and no force on earth could have stopped that but she instead chose to sit out and catapulted MMS who had a clean image and was a man of intelligence and integrity. She not even pulled down his govt but has announced MMS as party's candidate for PM. Mind you, congress has a history of not announcing its candidate for CM and PM posts before elections. Still people are blaming dynasty! If She wanted/wants Rahul could take over anyday. She has gone for the best man for the job and still that is not appreciated.

Could you visualise an 82 year old Advani leave aside his lust for power and be the party president and promote some young guy in the party who has more intelligence, drive and acceptability as their candidate for PM? NEVER. period

I don't think the reason for Sonia refusing to be  the PM were quite as noble. While legally, no one could prevent her from becoming the PM, she new that the foreign tag would always haunt her. Instead, this was a better option- but putting up a lame duck PM, she could control the reins of power at the same time attain a moral high ground of refusing PMship.

As far as lust for power is concerned , I think it cuts across all party lines. Even MMS at his age could have refused to be PM and given the charge to a younger person ( I don't think any one bites the  "Sabko maoom hain main Sarabi Nain, Phir bhi koi pilaye to main kya karu" arguement) .No power on earth could have forced MMS to become PM, if he had refused... but as I said, the lust for power cuts acrross party lines, these days, you can count at your finger tips, people who are into politics with the actual intention of Desh Seva only.

Personally , though, I do wish LKA had refused to be BJP's PM candidate, I would have preffered Narendra Modi...
