In my opinion an MBA from India would be useful only in India and not abroad, whereas an MBA from abroad and from a reputed "Business school" would be a very great decision except that it costs a mint of money and that you need prior relevent work experience for the admission.

It will solely depend upon individual's choice. However, most important thing that would matter is money. US MBA schools are way too costly than their Indian counterparts. If you can afford that much money, i would suggest US. One reason being, it is somewhat easy to get in US good school than IIM, provided you have good experience and good test scores. You wont be competing with MILLIONS to get an admit. People from US MBA schools also get good salaries, it can be anywhere from 80k-150k.
MBA in india can be cheap but may be difficult to get in good school.

If one needs international exposure and access to a good network, then should think of doing one abroad. Indian schools will teach you just the same, probably better, but may not be able to provide an environment where each individual brings something unique to the room. If a batch of 100 has people from 42 different countries with average experience of 4-5 years in lets say across 15 different industry sectors and different business function, the learning will be that much different.
A quick look at the selection procedures will also make it clear. Most of the top rung B-schools rely on a combination of academic success and experience. Equal weightage is given to experience if not more than academics. However, I think, the Indian system is based on academic excellence. Or atleast overly biased towards it.
At the end of the day, my suggestion is have a close look at what one's expectations and objectives are and then match what each school has to offer.
