Anybody seen the movie, An Officer And A Gentleman. The last scene, where Richard Gere becomes  a naval officer and enters the factory to reclaim his love- Debra Winger. People working in the factory stop their work and stare at him! He goes to Debra Winger and kisses her and takes her in his arms and out of the factory. Her friend- Paula who was responsible for the death of Gere's friend, hesitates and is choked by emotions- but nevertheless in the end- says - Way to go Paula, Way to go -To Debra Winger.

It doesn't matter to us whether it is Basantji the growth investor minting money or Vivekji- the value investor printing money who would have got an A had if he was in the class of Benjamin Graham. As long as they are able to buy books, keep food on the table, make love to their wives. It doesn't matter.

I have been in the markets for two years, I the growth investor who is sitting on a loss, who is unemployed, semi CA, from a small city, no wive.

But even then, let me say-
Way to go Basantji,
Way to go Vivek Sukhani.

Nothing pains me as much as the decline of America’s softpower. A country that accounts for a third of the global GDP. Growing up in the Middle East and having watched serials like “Magnum”, “Matt Houston”, “Lucan”, Remington Steele” in the 80’s. The serials which always pitted the good and the bad and the good always triumphed in the end. The quality of the serials deteriorated in the 90’s with a few serials which I liked “The Pretender”, Michael T. Weiss as Jarod raised ina simulated environment in the Center taken away from his parents in his childhood runs away from the Center to help the needy and find his identity.

When any film or serial industry begins to write characters based on grey and other areas, the Society is in a way condoning the wrong as the right and the right as the wrong. Presently the serials in Star World are based on these grey themes, “Desperate Housewives”, etc. The morals have gone for a toss and the audience is treated as an ignorant public. In a way it’s an acceptance of the degradation of the morals that have taken place in public life, business, in all areas of life. No wonder the demise of America as a soft power is guaranteed. Look at Hollywood.

Amazing people can deceive themselves from viewing things as right or wrong like our businessmen, political leaders to grey. We are met with questions like is it legal?.

No wonder, the prolific inventor- Edison who was hearing impaired was asked whether he would like to use a hearing aid. He declined by saying what purpose would it serve to listen to the useless chatter around you.

Of course except for mistakes where I said Debra Winger's friend was Paula. Debra's name was Paula. As in newspapers, I would like to say the error is regretted.

Of course, I might add being surrounded by people whom you love and whom you love as Buffett said and a good digestive system.
What better routine than having a cup of tea in the morning and having a good bowel system.
That's all I pray for!

Was Fortunate to watch the two remakes of “Mannequin on the Move”. The theme revolves around centuries back when an evil man curses the girl to thousands of years of sleep.

We Fast Forward to the present. The Mannequin has a necklace around her neck. The necklace if removed returns her to a state of consciousness. The hero fights the villain in the end and finally marries the Mannequin.

How often in the market we presume that with our hand we can kiss the frog and turn it into a princess as alluded to by Buffett. How we like to catch a falling knife. How we always think we know it all?

How even the title song makes you want to play along-

Looking in your eyes

See a paradise

This world that I have found

Is too good to be true

Standing here beside you,

Want some much to give you this

Love in my heart

And I am feeling for you………..
