Anytime you see the words wire transfer thru Western Union or any other wire transfer agency, that should be a red flag. Also, if it ask you to confirm your information.

Beware of online stock campaigns!

PUMP-AND-DUMP SPAM

Quick money

About 500 mails were circulated advising people to invest in a US firm

Fraudsters invest in the shares of a company, engineer a spam campaign and raise the price

After their expectations are met, they sell their holdings for huge profits

this is a case not only for lotteries but also for stock markets. People tend to chase momentum stocks for easy money. One of the relevant examples is JaiCorp. people are just blindly buying this stock hoping that they would get 100% returns in just 20 days. This Jaicorp has made a new category of stocks called "Circuit Hitting Stocks".This has increased the zeal in people to hunt for quick money. Everyday I come across several topics and discussions named Next JaiCorp or Another Walchandnagar in the making or even Buy this and DOUBLE your money in EIGHT DAYS. I don't know why people run after such stocks. have they forgotten the stock market history? Have they forgotten HFCL,NEPC of the past ?

Reliance Industrial Infra has quarterly profit of less than 5 crores and a market cap of over 10000 crores?

Its daily traded turnover is at least 10 times more than its annual net profit and still people are buying such stocks

Isn't it lottery ? In this type of lottery people don't have to receive a mail to get fooled they themselves get trapped !!!
In Cricket & Stock Markets, everyone seems to be an expert but only a few really are.

Mukeshjee,
I am invested in RIIL at lower levels and will continue to hold for 2 years.I am planning to buy Jai Corp at resonable levels around 1k. I have studied a bit about these companies and I am aware that I am taking  a high calculated risk and am prepared to loose on these 2 stks if things do not work the way I anticipated... No risk no gains, sometimes only pain !!!

There are many resources on the net that document these scams and frauds.
One such good web resource is lookstoogoodtobetrue.com.   Among other frauds, it covers "the Nigerian Letter or 419 Scam" and the "Foreign Lottery Scam".

As they say, if some thing looks too good to be true, it probably is!!
