Italics...Welcome to TED.
I'm a great fan of advertising field though not any way related to it. What has been your function-- Mktg, Brand building, Copy-writing ??
You are absolutely right about importance of Branding & the moat around it.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Yes Basantji i hope my creative background can bring a new perspective to some things. Basantji, I've been reading as much as i can on spotting and valueing small/mid caps that have the potential to become multibaggers. Would be really grateful if you could point me in the direction of links on TED or elsewhere that provide some clues. Or even book suggestions. I know you've probably done this hundreds of times for many newbies so just point me in the direction and I'll do the rest
My aim is not to get a "hot tip" or know if this or that stock is the flavour of the season. It is to build a framework for investing that lasts me for the next 20 years and which aloows me to spot and value companies that are at an inflection point. So i can keep emotion to the minimum and allow for a somewhat rational decision to be made.
At least that's the aim. Let's see how far i get!

Though this sub forum " Identifying Multibaggers" looks catchy with its heading it has some pointers to how we can attempt to buy multibaggers before they actually become one. the opertaive word here is "attempt".

Hi smartcat, unfortunately internet advertising in India is still at a very primative stage. There are many reasons for this. One of the main ones is that advertising agencies find it far more profitable to promote TV ads and press advertising over internet. Internet advertising is still considered a very poor cousin to mainstream advertising. So no, it's not given too much importance by the agencies and so clients too tend to not give it the importance it deserves. However in the west it's completely the opposite. Companies place huge importance on internet advertising. In fact campaigns are specfically done for the internet. this will happen in India too. It has to. there's no alternative. The problem is it will take at least 3 to 5 years for this to start showing. At least in my opinion. But when things change, popular sites (moneycontrol and maybe a rediff) will be the biggest beneficiaries.
Yes there has been a shift. Outdoor now plays a much more important role than it did, especially in the metros. Do you know that in Mumbai popular hoarding sites have a wait-list and charge a huge premium. (is that good news for ENIL? )
Print advertising will also get a push thanks to the "retail revolution". Retail usually uses a lot of press since it is localised in nature.
Hope that helps. Feel free to let me know if you need any more info.

Robert allen is my favourite. Because i believe he is a genuis.
Companies which i have made money from are....

I dont follow warren's stratergy of investing, because I feel its too conservative.
I have my own style of investing which has a hint of warrens stratergy..

Both Robert Allen and Robert Kiyosaki are very controversial. Do a search for 'Robert Kiyosaki scam' or 'Robert Kiyosaki fraud' for example, and you'll know what I mean.
The argument is that these two people made money not by investing in real estate, but by selling self-help and motivational books like 'Rich Dad Poor Dad'.

Call me when you find him. You might not be able to take him down alone.
