I agree too. And to be honest, I think I may have done it mistakengly myself too in some messages(it didnt come to my mind), though in lots of other messages I have edited it instead of adding a new reply. I dont know, just did what came in my mind at that time. But will be careful next time onwards...at least shall try my best!

As I said long time back, misreants will always find ways to get into every forum, system but our focus should be on stocks and not something else. In fact almost every person I have seen here except Basant jee, has posted at least one extra message where he/she could have simply edited his/her earlier message but I didnt think about it till now, as I would like to give them the benefit of doubt that it was unintentional.

Also case in point about moneycontrol, they dont have a promotion system there at all and hence their model is not the same as ours here. In fact, most forums like EquitDesk have the same system: "number of messages" leads to promotions. In fact, on moneycontrol, I have seen that miscreants do something else, for example:

1) A and B have an arguement, and A is talking more sense whereas B is just posting messages like "buy xxx, sure going to shoot up in next week".

2) B goes out and derates any message from A. In fact, it takes this "B" guy hardly 5-10 minutes to create another id and he comes in and again gives a low rating to A's messages.

So no system is foolproof. However moneycontrol messageboard doesnt have any promotion method and hence that model is different to this model.

What we can do is increase the number of messages needed to promote someone to senior. From newbie to groupie can be in 50 messages probably, but from groupie to senior the person WILL need to post 1000 messages, so the miscreant doesnt think about that and since almost everyone would be in the groupie group, there wont be too many comparisons and hence not too much temptation try to get promoted.

You MAY demote all the new "seniors" to groupie so that the rule applies to all, in a fair way and since 1000 messages would be far off, maybe the miscreants wont think about it too much!

However, in all fairness, if someone is thinking of getting a promotion here or is focusing on who is getting promoted and all, and not focusing on stocks and how to make money out of it, then that person is literally wasting their time and he should be warned twice privately or on board, and then banned simple! Applies to everyone, including me of course!

However, basant jee, you are the boss and have to decide after taking into consideration all aspects!

The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect.A temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd nor against it

Hi Vijay,

The forums are really good with some really outstanding posters.

One major improvement that I would suggest is that, can a poster have a link to view all his posts and see all the replies to his posts. Also maybe the poster also has the facility to view his frequently visited forums, etc.

All said and done, One request is that this forum should not be allowed to go the moneycontrol.com way where miscreants have managed to destroy the investor confidence by reckless posts.

Thanks,
Ashwin

Hi Ashwin,

Thank you so much for your advise. Yes, a poster could go to the member list and click on the "find all posts" search button to look for all posts from specific members.

We would certainly keep your advise on record and see that quality of posts are maintained at the highest order. If you see the announcements section we have taken some steps in that regard today.

Regards,

Basant

The flashing quotes on the website has typo - the words patient and impatient should be interchanged. It is making the meaning completely opposite. Not sure if Buffet said this.

One more feedback, Can you pls. make the default as "Newest Post First"..

Even if i do NOT logout, after some time it changes back to "Oldest Post First". Everytime, i have to change it back.

All regular folks on equity desk, would want to read the latest post - i believe "Newest Post First" is the sensible and good default !

For new folks, if they are reading the topic for the first time and they want oldest post first, let them change the new default 'coz thatz not the most often scenario !

Thanx

I will try  to and that seems more sensible also. But I would need to ask the guy from whom I bought this software from. Also if you click on the extreme right hand corner of the active topics (there is a very small arrow there) where the name of the member who has made the last post appears you would be taken to the last post directly.

Thanks Basantji, the small arrow which you told also does the same sensible thing which i was expecting. So even if the default cannot be made, i have learnt from you (small arrow) on how to get what i want !

Thanks for mentioning that - i had not observed it earlier..

And if you are asking your software guy, also ask and LMK about - how can "sending emails" option selected in the profile be made functional..

I have selected "send emails" but i have never gotten any emails as replies to my post, new post, etc...  I would love to have these features - which the website claimed but seems they are not functional now.. maybe its a placeholder for future things to come..

kindly let me know....
