great idea rohit!
if we will share this responsibility in big number spammers will get smashed away for sure. i don't know much about information technology but can admin locate ip addresses of spammers? and restrict any activity from them? 2 weeks ago i tried registering on shaadi dot com for my brother but for tens of unsuccessful attempts they denied me to register on shaadi... they always showing such page which was telling that we have noticed suspectfull activity from your computer (though i don't understand what suspectfull activity they mean since we don't click on unethical websites etc.) But now i think this strategy if TED will use spammers will be blown away for sure.
I am ready to do this work with great pleasure as i am online almost everyday...
unity is the best strategic weapon!

(1)Can we have the position of the Report button changed as many a boarders are used to VBulletin format where such button is at the top right corner.
(2)area bellow post should be for Quote and Replybutton.
(3) This is in right step as while writing this post Post Replybutton falls bellow the editor.

basant sir,
there are lot of spam mails being generated in the equity desk now which is seriously affecting the quality of forum.
the forum which was once loved by all will die due to these spams.
request you to kindly take action to stop these spams and revive the discussions and spirit of the forum as its used to be.

Suggestions: 1) A CAPTCHA input code seems to be a must for all newbie members (or all members) since some of the spams appear to be auto generated. 2)On creation of a new login, a person should not be allowed to post immediately , only after a small cooling down period (say one week). This is used be some site to prevent creation of logins for each new spam 3) IP addresses from where a spam mail is generated should be blocked. Also, not more than two accounts should be allowed to be generated from one IP address. This will prevent spammers from the same IP address from generation new accounts for gererating spam accounts

1. Its operational
2. Just tried doing it and it should help.
3. These professional spammers use different IDs. Even regular TEDdies use tow different IDs for example one ID Vijaygawde also writes with the ID known as circuit but the IP address is different as logins happen at different times.

The number of spams today are unprecendented for TED, someone seems to be out on the job with a vengeance.
Would be better if instead of autocreation of new logins, let new members apply for membership, with details including a phone number.. I think it could help....just a thought

Indeed, too many spammy posts and looks like increasing day by day.
It may make sense to create a white list and add trusted/regular members ID only in it (whoever wants can request inclusion of his/her ID in this thread or so) and give reply/write/create permission to this list only. Such measure will ensure spammers move out and in mean time, site maintainer can think of more effective way to curb the abuse.
