The mouse that roared
Today's DNA op-ed page has a good piece on how "Advani shot himself in the foot by needling the PM too much about his weakness". The author also gives several examples of how Advani could have come off better but didn't.

Nothing wrong with having ambition in privet domain but when we are choosing leader for governing the nation such thing should not be the ultimate thing. Why I don't like Advani because he knows that NM is far better than him but still he is riding on his ambition & don't ready to sacrifice it in interest of the nation.
I feel that in present situation (adverse economic & security challenges)all the parties should decided on having best possible people on all posts irrespective of any party he belongs to. If something like this can happen in Pakistan which is not as matured democracy as India why we can not do it?

who made nm,plz we should have some respect who worked hard 60 years. You know atal bihari doesn't like modi but because of advani, he is cm of gujarat. look we don't know much abt him personally but people like jaitly,nm respect him so much so we should alo respect him. Nm and jaitly knows him much more than us. I appreciate nm that he is working so hard to win election.

I was a fan of BJP too in my teens (during mandal and madir phase) but i grew out of my teenage! LK Advani is an old man in a hurry and there is nothing worse than that, I tell you. If you want a hardliner I will pick Narender Modi anyday over LKA, he is at least a doer. Don't have any false notions about respect that NM has for LKA, let the results be out and BJP defeated LKA will be pushed aside. NM is only biding his time. If BJP were really serious about winning they will make NM their candidate and not LKA who is neither here nor there. On being a nationalist how he shamelessly opposed nuclear deal just for the sake of opposition. His speech on the issue was full of errors and Pranav mukherjee just ran over him in reply leaving him looking embarrassed!
As far as his contribution, LKA has given us mandir issue and the aftermath, KAndhar, Kargill and Zilch. He can't even hold a candle to MMS. NM is clean and has good development record but has got blood on his hands and that may be strong roadblock to his becoming a consensus candidate of any coalition so they may have to project a more acceptable face. If EVEN Atal bihari couldn't ensure victory last time with "india shining' and all that stuff poor LKA stands no chance. He has cooked his own goose with attack on MMS and now he is feeling the heat with MMS,Sonia, Rahul, priyanka et al exposing him badly. Look he is demanding an appology! Is that you 'Iron man'? haven't you got any satisfactory reply?

Sonia takes on Advani, calls him slave of RSS
Another in the series of insults. LKA thought MMS and others won'
t be able to reply to his silly tirade but he didn't expect the deluge which has washed him off like a broken twig. I think that is tit for tat (X 5 times)
At least now advani should talk of real issues for the common man rather than oneupmanship in which he has been slayed convincingly.

you don't have to say,he is talking for common man only. Plz read manifesto. what was others were doing when they were in opposition. only weak people can say that please i m not weak plz i m not. plz listen to me i m not weak. you can ask pakistan, china, obama, they will give you certificate that i m not weak. advani doesn't need to clarify anythingh .
you r voting for non-issue. i m voting for real issue.

What's that 'real' issue? That this man has spent donkey's years in politics and he missed the bus last time because of vajpayee and now at 82 is his last realistic chance to be a PM. Every body is entitled to his own preferences but we shall see the collective will of people in a month or so. The jury is still out till then. But you have to agree that it is his first and last chance.
