You can directly check expense ratio in fund house website. Just for an example, to check details about HDFC Equity, go to www.hdfcfund.com and then select the scheme. You will this page having all details.
I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

an interesting article in the economic times on the role played by mutual fund during shareholders events, most of them have been pasive going along with the management except templeton, really shocking to see HDFC also in the list, leave the mutual funds, the promoters of most companies help themselves to such handsome remuneration, that the urge to perform and reward the minority shareholders is not there, all the more reason to do investments on your own rather than go to MF,other than the ELSS for tax saving.

It will be true that Excahange traded funds are also good alternative to mutual funds as they dont carry expense ratos like mutual funds. .

I think you're going to get a lot of agreement with that one. ;)

A lot of the structure of investment opportunities (not just mutual funds) is a design to funnel money from people who have some but not a lot of it to other people who already have a lot, and will use investments as capital to play financial shell-games. You can reduce that by cutting out the middlemen as much as possible.

This is sad. Though its great to see people like basant to help us get educated. I don't have any investments in MFs but still this seems really bad and unethical to my eyes.

Redeemed a large chunk of my mutual funds two weeks back, and have started investing on stocks recommended by Basantji. I should have done this ages back, and I have no doubt that we will beat any mutual fund hands down.
I have a query though, any idea whether the dividends received by mutual funds from their stock portfolio is shared in the NAV or does go directly into the MF pockets?

It is added to the NAV.
